Wellness Candle Recipes: Create the Calm

Candles are made for relaxation, and as candle makers, we have the power to deliver products that create the calming atmosphere that our customers are seeking. We like to call these wellness candles, candles that are designed with relaxation in mind.

Our candle technicians here at London Luxury are well-versed in designing candle recipes for all occasions and moods, but since it’s Stress Awareness Month, we wanted to share a couple of our favourite wellness candle recipes that you can use for your own small business.

Matcha Energy to Mine

The aim with a wellness candle is to promote a sense of calm and zen, you want a candle that can get your customer to match its energy. What better way than with a Matcha fragrance oil. Suited to moods of wellbeing and innovation, you can see why this recipe is top of the picks for our wellbeing candles. It combines the idea of relaxation whilst providing a product that is new and out of the box. Hence, why we’ve paired this scent with the stunning new Olive Green Small Baguette container, a truly unique and indulgent candle jar.

Our two key features here are the smell and the look of the candle, combined to create a perfect product designed for wellness. Now, let’s break down the how-to of creating the ‘Matcha Energy to Mine’ candle.

Here’s what you need:

Ingredients for 'Matcha Energy to Mine' candle

We like to make things stress free, especially in the case of creating a wellbeing candle (practice what you preach right?). So, follow our easy step by step to bring this recipe to life.

The small baguette holds 1125ml, so this is what you are aiming for with your candle mixture. For a 10% fragrance load (we recommend this as a good place to start), you’ll need 1,012.5ml of A27 wax, and 112.5ml of the Activated Charcoal + Matcha Tea fragrance oil.

Melt down your wax in a LCS Wax Melter. When it’s completely liquified you can cool it to around 70 degrees Celsius and then pour in your fragrance oil.

Blend the oil and the wax mixture together for 2 minutes for an even scent distribution.

Prepare your candle container. Stick three stickums to the base of your baguette, evenly spread out in a line. Then stick your 3 wicks to the stickums and secure them in place. Use wick centring tools to hold the wicks up right for the next step.

Once your candle blend has settled to approximately 60 degrees Celsius you are ready to pour. Using an LCS easy pouring jug, transfer your wax mixture into the baguette, ensuring you saturate the cotton wicks as you go.

Once the container is full, leave you candle to set overnight.

Now your candle is complete, you can trim the wicks down and get ready to stock your new wellbeing candle in store and online.

Kudos for Kakadu

Wellbeing and health go hand in hand, and the perfect scent that emulates this is the Kakadu Plum + Cucumber fragrance. Promoting freshness and brightness, the scent can be combined with wax and hosted in a jar that is also reminiscent of nurturing health, such as the Apothecary jar.

Here’s what you need:

Ingredients for 'Kudos for Kakadu' candle

This wellbeing candle is centred around the theme of health. Follow the guide below to create a beautiful product that both looks the part and plays it.

In this recipe, we’re using the 180ml Apothecary Jar which holds a total of, you guessed it, 180ml. Again, we suggest starting off with a 10% fragrance load and seeing how you get on. Therefore, you’ll need 18ml of A27 wax, and 162ml of the Kakadu Plum + Cucumber fragrance oil.

Go to your handy LCS Wax Melter and melt down all 162ml of the wax before allowing it to cool slightly to your optimum blending temperature which is 70 degrees Celsius. Now you’re ready to combine your oil.

Stir together the oil and the wax mixture together for 2 to ensure it is fully blended.

You’ll want to get your candle jar ready for the wax. Attach your stickum to the base of your jar and on top, press down your wood wick until it feels secure.

Now your jar is ready and your mixture is blended, ensure it is sitting at around 60 degrees Celsius before beginning to pour. Using an LCS easy pouring jug, pour your wax mixture into your pre-prepared Apothecary jar, ensuring you saturate the wood wick as you pour.

One you have filled you jar to the top you can leave you candle to set overnight.

In the morning, when you can see that your candle is complete, take some wick trimmers and cut the wood wick down to size. Jobs done – stress free and a great creative outlet for your mental health.
