Made With Love And Intention; Maker’s Moments with Scented Wick

Welcome back to Maker’s Moments and Memoirs! This month, we had the pleasure of chatting to Wendy Gybels, owner of Scented Wick, to learn more about her journey into candle making, her unique brand, and her beautiful products.

The Brand

Scented Wick is a sustainable Belgian brand that specialises in candles, wax melts and room-sprays, as well as hand soap and lotion. The business was built on Wendy’s passion for spirituality, and her desire to create a home fragrance brand that combined this spirituality with awareness and meaningful scent to produce candles that were more than just products, but feelings.

In 2019, founder Wendy was using crystals and candles frequently in her daily life, and had started to recycle her old candle waxes to make new candles for herself. However, she quickly realised that she wanted to source and use only the very best quality products for her candles, particularly soy based wax, so she started her search and discovered London Luxury Candle Supplies.

Wendy felt that her soul had found its home by combing her spiritual awareness with creating beautiful products, so she took the plunge and started her new business from scratch, eventually launching Scented Wick in January. Wendy’s brand is already hugely successful and adored by customers for her show stopping candle creations that combine dried flowers, meaningful crystals and spectacular scents to conjure a truly magical, spiritual experience.

What has the journey been like as your business has grown?

“In 2023 I experienced so much growth, both as a person and also for my business. I absolutely love the opportunity to be truly authentic and follow my intuition. Now, I am selling in eight partner stores! Of course, it’s very hard work and there have been days where I wanted to quit, but I’ve always stayed focused, kept my eyes on my business and reminded myself what I want to tell the world. Now, I look back and smile thinking of where it al started and where the brand is now going.”

What are your most important brand values?

“Our mission is to create the highest quality products for our customers without compromise. Our candles are handmade with love and in balance with people, nature and animals. This means that all our products are sustainable for the environment, vegan and never use animal tested ingredients.”

What are your favourite products?

"Definitely the Raindrop GEO jars - they’re my bestsellers. I just love how sophisticated they look. My personal favourites are the Matte Black, Matte White, Rose Gold and Pearl. I also love the Musk Jars, they’re so unique and they catch the light beautifully when they’re lit.”

What are your favourite LLCS products?

“The Organic Soy Wax without paraffin is an absolutely essential product for my brand. I made the decision really early on that I wanted to invest in only the best for my products, and this wax allows me to uphold this quality standard without compromising animals or the environment.”
