Step-by-Step Guide:
Measure the Diameter of Your Candle Jar:
Start by measuring the diameter of your candle jar across the top. This measurement is crucial as it determines the size of the wooden wick you will need.
Example 1.
Refer to the Wooden Wick Sizing Chart:
With your measurement in hand, refer to the wooden wick sizing chart. On the left-hand side, you will find a column labeled “Vessel Diameter.” Locate the sizing bracket that matches your candle jar’s diameter.
Choose Your Wick Style:
Scroll to the right to find the “Wick Dimensions” column. London Luxury Candle Supplies offers two styles: the Double Wooden Wick and the S Wood Wick.
Both styles will burn well, but they offer different aesthetics and sounds.
Double Wooden Wick: This wick consists of two wooden wicks together, providing a wider flame and a crackling sound.
S Wood Wick: This wick has a wave shape and produces a less crackly sound compared to the Double Wooden Wick.
Example:
If your candle jar has a diameter of 80mm, you can choose between the Double Wood Wick 13 or the S Wood Wick 20. Both options will work well, but the choice depends on your preference for the flame’s appearance and sound.
Additional Considerations:
Container Material: Different types of containers (glass, tin, ceramic) affect the wick size. For instance, ceramic containers do not get as hot as glass or tin, so you might need to adjust the wick size accordingly.
Fragrance Load: The percentage of fragrance oil in your candle also impacts the burn rate. Higher fragrance loads (10% and above) require the wick to work harder. Typically, a fragrance load of 6-8% is sufficient and tends to perform best based on our experience.
By following these steps, you can find the right wooden wick for your candle jar, ensuring a beautiful and efficient burn.
